From ore to copper
The feature of this guided tour is centred on "Malmplassen" (the ore yard) and "Kølplanken" (the fenced in area across the river from the smeltery. The area was earlier used for charcoal storage). The tour starts on the ramp at the "Smelthytta" museum entrance and begins with a general description of what can be seen at "Malmplassen" and includes, among others ‘"Hyttklokka" (the smeltery's bell), "Stangvekta" (beam balance drive-on scales) and ‘Hyttstugu’ (administration and laboratory)

"Smelthytta" (The Smeltery)
The main exhibits in "Smelthytta" show us how mining activity took place in earlier times. There is information about how the rock in the mines were heated up by fires causing the rock to crack. This was the old method used to fracture the rock and expore the copper ore. In addition, there are working models of water wheels, horse-operated hoists, as well as pumps, all of which illustrate the old mining techniques.
