Exhibition: Terra Sancta

Saturday 30 November, the exhibition Terra Sancta opens at Røros Museum Smelthytta. Håkon Gullvåg's paintings express the artist's shock and rage over the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. The exhibition was last shown in Norway in 2009, and has later been shown in Beirut, Amman and Damascus.

In 2019, visual artist Håkon Gullvåg celebrates his 60th birthday, and the exhibition appears as part of the anniversary celebration. It has been ten years since the paintings were last shown in Norway, and we are proud that it happens at Røros Museum Smelthytta.

There will be several events related to the exhibition, and Håkon Gullvåg will even attend some of them. Topics for the events are war, art and cultural heritage at risk. The events will be announced in the local press and presented on our website.

The exhibition can be experienced until April 15, 2020. Then, a selection of Gullvåg's works will be displayed in other rooms in Smelthytta through the summer of 2020, through September 1. The exhibition is a collaboration between Rørosmuseet, Røros Kunstlag and Elden.

In addition to the Terra sancta exhibition in 2019 and 2020, Håkon Gullvåg opens a church art exhibition in Røros church in the summer of 2020, in collaboration with Røros church and Elden.
