Ebrien-tjelmiej tjirrh – Through Raindrops

Lova Isabelle Lundberg is a vytnesäjja (craft artist) and has reflected on questions related to inspiration while working on her exhibition Ebrien-tjelmiej tjirrh – Through Raindrops. She has also worked with her favorite material, glass beads, in a way that has allowed her to create something new, giving the tiny beads a larger presence in the space.

During her 20-year journey as a craft artist, Lova Lundberg has acquired her skills through family, education at the Sámi Educational Centre, and by running her own business since 2020. She has her roots in Eajra and currently lives in Jåhkamåhkke. She creates vätnoe (South Sámi handicrafts) and South Sámi design products, and one of her greatest passions within vätnoe is the use of gierkie (beads), especially seed beads. These small beads, with a diameter of about 1.5 mm, are made of glass and can vary in size, color, and shape.

What drives her in her craft is the pursuit of continuous development and creativity. Exploring the boundaries where imagination meets tradition is what inspires her to create new forms, patterns, and expressions.
