If you get hungry while exploring the Røros Museum's various centres, we have cafés at Smelthytta, Olav's Mine and Doktortjønna.

The café at Smelthytta

Our café in Smelthytta is open all year. Here we offer tea, coffee and sodas, as well a variety of cakes and goodies. During the summer season we also have ice cream and sandwiches.

The café at Doktortjønna

The café at Doktortjønna is open during the summer season, and we offer hot and cold drinks, ice cream and cakes, and a variety of sandwiches. At Doktortjønna you can also have your own picnic in idyllic surroundings.

Opening hours Smelthytta

The Røros Museum’s main building, Smelthytta, is built on the ruins of Røros Copper Work’s last smelter, which burned in 1975. The exhibitions at Røros Museum Smelthytta are open all year.

Doktortjønna

Doktortjønna lake and outdoor recreation area, located a 5 minute walk from the town centre, is perfect for families with children. The area has been designed for learning by doing and offers many different activities.
