In their Finery

The exhibition provides insight into the variety and traditions of dress worn for formal and festive occations, such as church attendance, christenings, confirmations and weddings. 

Clothing conventions changed constantly and were influenced by European fashions, individual taste, creativity and personal finance. Clothings customs in Røros were therefore varied and diverse, often with colorful foreign fabrics in cotton and silk, side by side with locally produced woollen fabrics.
