The Røros Museum is a visitor center for the World Heritage Site Røros Mining Town and the Circumference. This exhibition gives you an insight into why the cultural heritage of our region is regarded as both unique and of universal relevance - and has therefore found its place on UNESCO's list of the world's natural and cultural heritage.
The exhibition provides brief information about UNESCO, about other World Heritage Sites in Norway, in addition to the important elements in the inscription of Røros Mining Town and the Circumference: the organization of the mining town, resource utilization in a barren landscape, working life in the smelters and mines, coal production and transport.
